Lead Free on the Horizon

In January of 2011, the Congress of the United States amended the safe Drinking Water Act, adding the requirement that the federal definition of “lead free” in backflow devices to be less than or equal to 0.25 percent. Laws are being enacted across the country requiring a lower lead percentages in backflow assemblies. If you haven’t received a notice already, chances are you soon will, and you’ll be required to replace your equipment with a low-lead or no-lead solution.
