Anywhere there is a lawn sprinkler system there is a need for backflow protection to prevent herbicides and other chemicals from entering your drinking water supply.

Until recently the most common device installed for irrigation systems is a pressure vacuum breaker (PVB).  As of July 2009  a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assembly is required. Whichever device you have both of these backflow devices need to be tested annually to insure that they are working properly.  If you are in a freeze zone, these devices should be winterized as well. In some jurisdictions, backflow devices are required to be rebuilt or replacred every five years.

If you have any questions concerning backflow prevention at your home or place of business please call us as we are familiar with most requirements in the mid-atlantic region.
